On the Tracks of the Pilgrims in Raabtal

The Breitegg church of pilgrimage lies about 2km out of St Ruprecht at Kalvarienberg, which spreads out to the north of the market.  A wooden tower at the current location of the church was replaced by a wooden house of prayer in the 18th century.  Today's church "Zum Gegeißelten Heiland" was erected at that site between 1845 and 1850.  The nearby church at Weizberg served as a model for the towers.  Consecration followed in 1853.  The painting of the church was completed in 1890 with historical decorative elements on the pilasters and ceiling as well as images referring to the Passion of Christ on the arches, rear wall, and ceiling.  In the chapel in the vestibule, a sculptural reproduction of the Mariahilf votive picture of Graz is housed.
